European Freaks Performance approaching premiere
If a historian in the future would have to guess the condition of the EU based on articles and news from 2018, probably the prognosis would not be very optimistic. 2019 is a fate year for the EU — facing BREXIT and the EU-elections. What should we do next: is it cosmetic intervention, facelift, or reanimation that is needed? What happened to the European idea? Budapest based theatre collective STEREO AKT creates a participative performance on the spot, based on the experiences, questions and dilemmas raised by the conference „European Freaks’ Con” (2-3 February 2019). Tübingen locals get involved in a citizen stage project to take part in the creation process of an exciting, provocative and funny contemporary theatre piece. With an animator on stage and innovative sound design the show tries to imagine a Europe 2.0. Can we defibrillate the pulse of Europe?

Open call for participation: civil stage theatre project “European Freaks”
With the Hungarian theatre collective STEREO AKT, which will move into the ITZ for several weeks from 1 February, a participative theatre project entitled „European Freaks“ will be developed, inspired by the initial European Freaks‘ Con, with performance dates from 14 March. Interested Tübingen citizens can actively participate in this international citizens‘ stage.

“Zimmertheater Tübingen” invited the Hungarian theatre collective STEREO AKT, one of the most progressive Hungarian theatre groups, to develop a theatre performance in Tübingen. For this performance project the participation of citizens from Tübingen is essential:
Everybody who is interested in participating in a Bürgerbühne-project can be part of the process. It´s not necessary to be experienced in theatre – curiosity and enthusiasm in the future of Europe is the only requirement. The participants will find themselves on stage with four performers in a comfortable and shielded theatrical setting. It will be similar to a focus group research, where attitudes towards Europe are being explored. A graphic visualiser and a sound designer complete the artistic team under the direction of Martin Boross. The language of the production will be basic English – no worries with regard to this.
In preparation for the show, there will be two workshop weekends for the participants, where they get to know the artists of STEREO AKT and the theatrical concept (late February and early March – exact dates: see below). With theatrical games and tryouts first scenic settings will be developed.
We are happy to welcome civilians from all ages, sexes, gender and biographical background to assemble a brought diversity of perspectives on the topic: the future of Europe.

For those who are interested in taking part in the project, the scheduling for the workshops and the shows is as follows:
First Workshop (at the Löwen, Kornhausstraße 5, Tübingen):
February 23rd (Saturday) 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm
February 24th (Sunday) 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
This first workshop shall give the opportunity to both sides to decide whether a collaboration can work out.
Second Workshop (at the Löwen, Kornhausstraße 5, Tübingen):
March 9th (Saturday) 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
March 10th (Sunday) 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
General rehearsals (everyone who will take part in the shows should attend two out of the following three rehearsals):

Performances (you should save all six performance dates, however you will most probably only participate in 3 or 4 shows):
